Sometimes the universe just gets it right, and the universe got it exactly right the summer of 2015. The summer was destined to be different than the rest - we had both just recently graduated (Patrick Henry High & Hollins University) and were experiencing that time in life when the whole world seems to shift rapidly beneath you. We were focused on the next steps in our respective lives, but had both been specifically sought out by Director Patrick Kennerly to be a part of Showtimers Community Theatre's summer's show: Cabaret. Through auditions and rehearsals, we spoke occasionally - always friendly, always professional. It wasn't until show week, when we all started spending a lot more time together, that the spark became immensely clear though we were both so shy about it at first. During the performance, Dylan spent the entire time on stage playing the saxophone and clarinet and leading the band while I had several dance scenes with the other Kit Kat girls. When I wasn't on stage, I spent my time in the wings - dancing and watching. This quickly sparked an on/off stage relationship between us as Dylan could see me from his place on stage. By the third week of shows, I was blowing kisses to Dylan from behind the curtains before the start of each act. It wasn't until the cast party following the close of the show that we officially allowed ourselves to believe that the spark was real. As the party wrapped up and everybody said their goodbyes, Dylan - like the gentleman that he is - asked if he could walk me to my car where he then asked if I'd like to go get ice cream. While I couldn't go that evening, I happily (and Oh! So excitedly) agreed to go another time. And so it all began... our universe set in motion.
