SOMETHING OLD, NEW, BORROWED, & BLUE
as the the 19th century English rhyme originated, each phrase was meant to represent what a bride should have & cherish on her wedding day in order to promote a long and healthy marriage. in lieu of the traditional tokens associated with the old adage, on her wedding day, becca wishes to recognize the four women below as her 'special somethings'. seeing their smiles as she marries the love of her life will be all the good luck charm she needs.
SOMETHING 'OLD'
in tradition, brides wore 'something old' to represent the tie to her family. jessica is exactly that; as close as you can come to being family without actually being family - the fourth plate sister.
SOMETHING NEW
a bride's 'something new' symbolizes the bright future ahead and what she will gain in this marriage -- luckily, becca will be getting a sweet new sister in-law! here's to all the special moments yet to come. ♡
SOMETHING BORROWED
this concept of 'something borrowed' calls to mind all the ways sam has been there for becca over the years. although a bit more abstract, 'something borrowed' is meant to represent the support system the bride has behind her - should she need to borrow a glass of wine or a shoulder to cry on. since day one of college, that's been sam.
SOMETHING BLUE
in the tradition, 'something blue' symbolizes loyalty and there's no adjective more accurate to describe michelle & becca's friendship. they've officially been friends since joining the crew team in high school and have been best friends ever since. ironically, michelle and becca share a love for all things morose, so blue is fitting in more ways than one.
