How We Met

First comes school, then comes marriage.

Joshua and I met through mutual friends. My college roommate at the time was playing intermural volleyball at Georgia Southern, and I used to go watch her games. I met Josh several times during that fall semester, but did not think much of it. Little did I know that he was thinking much more of the interactions than I was. Come spring semester, Josh's best friend, Tyler, was trying to find out whether I would be open to a date with Josh. I, of course, told him no, thinking that he was trying to be funny (It was a late night of studying- don't judge!). Tyler went home and told Josh that I wasn't interested. I crushed Josh's spirits and had no idea! We ended up going to Tybee Island a few weeks later with the mutual group of friends we had developed, and I remember thinking that something was just pulling me to him- like a magnet (cheesy, I know!). Through the course of conversation, and a picture of Joshua with friends at a GSU game, I thought he had a girlfriend. I remember being very disappointed. Through more hangouts with friends, and then intermural softball practice, we started to get our miscommunications out of the way. JB asked me out on our first date one night while we were studying at Tyler's dorm with friends. I guess you could say the rest is history.

The Proposal

Made by Design

For years since we started dating, Joshua and I have spent time at Edisto Island with family. The coast and low country is a very special place to the both of us. My sister had found a Hawaiian shirt for dogs, and anyone that knows Josh, knows that he loves his Hawaiian shirts. I joked that we should take a picture on the beach at Edisto, with him, me, and Koda (our puppy dog) all in our Hawaiian shirts for a Christmas card. The plans for an epic surprise literally fell into their hands. One night while we were on the Island, we put on our Hawaiian shirts and went out to take a picture with the sunset behind us. While my sister and mom took pictures of us, Josh asked me to stand up and move to the other side. When I turned around, he was down on one knee with a ring. Of course, I said yes! I couldn't be more in love with my ring. Joshua helped custom design it to reflect a magnolia- my favorite flower. We could not be more excited to start this new adventure of married life, and to celebrate and party with you!
