We’re so excited to celebrate with you!

I had a phone interview with Alvin and we instantly felt a connection. It felt as if we had known each other. I transferred to Tampa and we became good work friends and would talk daily at work. He was my only friend in Florida. Fast forward to two years of friendship and I apply for a management position transferring back to NJ. Alvin was incredibly helpful in prepping me for the multiple interviews and navigating the process. Once I began the management position the calls were endless. I was so lost and confused and Alvin helped me tremendously in understanding my new role. We spoke for hours. Initially, it was all about work and then Alvin would navigate the conversation away from work and he would check on me and see how I was doing and before you know if we were talking daily! There was one particular conversation when I realized that we both had similar criteria in a partner. He planned a trip so we could meet in NYC and the rest is history. It has been quite the adventure ever since!

We were planning a family cactai ‘Meet and Greet’ for our one year anniversary. While I was avidly planning a cactai party, Alvin had other ideas. He had planned a secret adventure for me- a romantic balloon ride and breakfast in the air that was cancelled last minute due to winds. He thought quick on his feet with the help of Haley and organized an impromptu family breakfast in Hyde Park. We stood by the beautiful fountain where Alvin reminded me of our first date bike riding around NYC and us stopping by the fountain in Central Park. It was odd when everyone took out their phones to take pictures, but my Alvin loves taking pictures. Then before I knew it, Alvin handed me a cupcake and bracelet box. I thought he was gifting me a bracelet until I opened the box and there was a spoon to eat with the cupcake and a small key. The spoon had the words, “Will you Marry Me?” I was so confused, and I looked over to find Alvin on his knees speaking, but I dont know what he was saying!! I was so shocked but excited once I understood what was happening! While on his knees, Alvin pulled out a locket with a ring attached. I used the key to open the locket and ring popped off and fell! Instantly, we were thankful we were not on the hot air balloon! Of course, I accepted and can not wait to spend the rest of my life with Alvin and spend our special day with our close friends and family.

We refer to our love story as “Love in Times of Covid” after the book by Gabriel Garcia Marquez- “Love in the time of Cholera” 😃 We first met on my first day of work - Quest Tampa, July 9, 2018 Started work at Quest NJ March 2020 and speaking on the phone regularly First visit July 29,2020 First proposal to being in a committed relationship July 31, 2020.
