In 2023, Analise moved to Knoxville to start her sophomore year at UT. A few weeks in, she overheard a girl in math class bragging about how many Hinge dates she had lined up. Analise, being new to town (and naturally nosy), downloaded the app “just to see.” A few swipes later, and there was Nick. A good looking, UT graduate, who seemed normal enough. She messaged first, he asked for her number within the hour, and soon invited her to get Mexican food. Analise said yes because… chips and queso. What she didn’t know was that Nick’s idea of “Mexican food” was actually Vida, a very fancy pan-Latin restaurant downtown. Cue Analise spending two days trying on every outfit she owned. On date night, she showed up 30 minutes early and accidentally befriended a middle-aged couple while trying (and failing) to find the restaurant entrance. When she told them she was meeting a guy from Hinge, they basically appointed themselves her bodyguards. They even walked with her to meet Nick and introduced themselves as “friends of her mom.” (They weren’t.) Dinner ended up being amazing, and the couple circled back mid-meal to make sure Nick wasn’t a kidnapper. Analise assured them he was great, and he was. After dinner, Nick and Analise walked around downtown and sat in the car and listened to music for another hour and talked nonstop. By the end of the night, she decided he was definitely not a kidnapper… just the guy she’d end up marrying. And they’ve been together ever since.
