How We Met

Tinder Really Works

We both got in tinder to fill up some boredom going on in each of our lives. I had some more free time than I was accustomed to. He had just moved into his apartment and neither of his two roommates would be there for another week. A few right swipes and some conversation, we clicked very well. The conversation was easy, we bonded over PSYCH(the show), our competitiveness, both of us being the oldest child among other things. We set up a date to be on a Sunday he was getting back from a bachelor party. Sunday came and he ended up canceling because he got sun poisoning! We ended up meeting in person at The RailYard that Friday. Little did he know, I had a system set up with the waitress that if I ordered a shot of alcohol, I needed help out of the date. You never know who these people on the internet are! Little to my knowledge, he knew that I had a daughter and kept dropping little hints for me to bring up that conversation. Even though I didnt tell Nick about M that night, I learned so much about him. His childhood, his law school friends, his fraternity brothers, friends getting married that summer, friends having a baby that summer. I thought he was either 1) very into himself or 2) very nervous. About 3 hours later, we left the restaurant and went on our ways. We kept texting and set up another date for later that week. I actually canceled this date due to some things going on in my life. But, I just couldn't wait to see him any longer so a week later after work, I texted him and asked him to meet me at Sarris. This was the date where I talked the most and told him a lot about my past and who I am and finally, my daughter. I couldn't keep her a secret anymore. Ladies and gentlemen, this was the moment I knew I had found my husband. As soon as I said the words "I have a 16-month-old daughter, Myah" he just simply smiled, said "I know" and then kissed me for the first time.

The Proposal

Scavenger Hunt

By this point in our relationship, Nick and I had lived together for 6 months. I had picked out my ring about 10 months prior. We were engaged to be engaged. I knew the engagement was coming but I didn't quite figure out how he was gonna do it. On the day of our 2nd anniversary of dating, I went out to get my nails done and I came back to his parents' house expecting M to be with his mom and N and I to go out to dinner. M was still with N and he told me that he needed me to help M find something. Low and behold, it was a little scavenger hunt. We followed the clues and based off the last clue, I thought we were going to the RailYard in Bridgeville where we had our first date. Nick said we were running ahead of schedule so he detoured. We got into a subdivision and suddenly N parks the car and starts to get stuff out of the trunk. He says he has a picnic prepared. We find a place to sit and N pulls a book out of the basket and starts to read it to me. The book was a summary of our relationship and all the reasons N loves me. At the end of the book, he asks me to read the last page and it says "Will you marry me?". I l was confused because I didn't think he wanted me to be the one to ask. When I looked up, there he is on one knee holding my ring. I said YES!
