Like all great love stories, ours started with… In-N-Out. 🍔 The summer of 2021, Anais had just moved to Arizona and met AJ at work. It was a simple beginning, but life had other plans. At the end of that summer, Anais moved back to Texas and the connection faded. But God has a funny way of weaving stories together. While Anais was in Texas, her brother also got a job at In-N-Out and became friends with AJ. Through random conversations about work, AJ’s name kept coming up, and when Anais prepared to move back to Arizona, her brother told AJ. Let’s just say AJ was very excited for her return. From the moment Anais came back, it felt like they’d known each other forever. Their first hangout? A trip to Tilly’s to grab an outfit for a Friendsgiving. Somewhere between AJ sprinting through the store after trying on shoes and Anais laughing at his goofiness, she realized: “I might like this guy....” Soon after, around Christmas, Anais bought a Lego set and the two started building it together. Weeks later, on January 15th, after snapping in the final piece, AJ asked Anais to be his girlfriend. That Lego set may have been small, but it marked the start of building something much bigger: a life together. Since then, their story has been filled with adventures, traditions, and growth. They’ve learned to balance two families during the holidays, cheered at countless baseball games, and gone ice skating every winter. Every May, AJ joins Anais’s family for Star Wars Night at Disneyland, and together they’ve made memories that are now part of their story. Along the way, Zuko (Anais’s dog) and Obi (AJ’s dog) have become a big part of their lives too, two pups that make their little world even sweeter. But beyond the fun, there’s been purpose. AJ encouraged Anais to rebuild her relationship with God, which led her to start serving in church. Today, they both work at their church, serving side by side and chasing after God’s calling together. They’ve also managed to influence each other in the funniest ways, Anais is now a Twenty One Pilots fan thanks to AJ, and AJ (though he’ll deny it) has developed a soft spot for musicals thanks to Anais. They push each other to be the best, laugh until their sides hurt, and really are each other’s best friend. Some people refer to them as their “last two brain cells,” but together, they make perfect sense. What began with burgers and a Lego set has become a story of love, laughter, and choosing each other every day.
