Croatia is in the EU and the official currency is the Euro. Cash and credit cards are widely accepted. Cash is preferred. Some locations won’t take Amex due to its high merchant percent charge. There are two types of ATMs - associated with a bank or independent. Try to find a bank ATM as the independent charge high fees. We like to use ATMs at Reiffeisen Bank or Istra Bank.
Please bring comfortable walking shoes as the streets in Rovinj are ancient cobblestone! Most beaches in Croatia are pebble stone. Best to bring water shoes although you can buy them everywhere. The sun can get very hot! Bring SPF and hats.

In restaurants and cafes, usually one rounds up or pays 10%, whatever is more, for a tip. For example, if the bill is 36euros, you would round up to 40euros. In exclusive restaurants, 10-20% is customary. For services, tips for taxis/drivers is usually rounding up for local trips. Longer trips 10-20%. For hotel services, tipping is the same as in the US.
