Our ceremony will take place in our backyard. Afterward, we’ll walk over to the park directly behind our home where the reception will be held under a tent.
Early August is typically beautiful summer weather in Vermont. In the Hartland area, average daytime highs are usually in the mid 70s°F , while evenings cool off into the mid 50s°F. August is also one of the sunniest months of the year so we will have a tent set up for shade during the reception. There won't be shade in the backyard for the ceremony so we recommend sunglasses, hats and lots of sunscreen protection! Like most New England summers, there’s always a chance of passing showers. Since we'll be outdoors, we recommend light summer attire for the day and a light sweater or jacket for the evening when temperatures cool down.
Since our ceremony and reception will be outdoors, we recommend dressing comfortably for summer weather. Dresses, skirts, summer suits, button-downs, and dressy jumpsuits are all great choices. Jackets and ties are optional. We recommend bringing a sweater or jacket for the evening. Block heels, wedges, or flats would be more suitable for the grassy terrain. That said, feel free to dress as fancy as you wish! There are no colors or styles that will be off limits.
The ceremony will begin at 3:30 so we kindly ask that you arrive no later than 3:15pm so you have time to find parking and get seated.
Guests are welcome to parallel park anywhere alongside Mill St. on the side of the park. There is additional parking at the top of the park along the horseshoe driveway in front of the former schoolhouse (red abandoned building). This building and the park are town owned property and we have received permission from the town to use this space. Please avoid parking in front of people's houses (other than ours). We also strongly encourage carpooling! We are in the process of arranging a shuttle service, so please get in touch with us if you are interested in shuttle service from nearby accomodations (within 15 miles).
We will be renting a restroom trailer that will be located in the park for guests to use. It will include flushable toilets and sinks. We kindly ask guests to use the designated restroom trailer, as our septic system cannot accommodate additional use during the event.
