Nine years ago, when I still just a naive high schooler, I met someone who would impact my life in a way I never imagined. It was winter break and I was at my best friend Eleni’s house. She told me that some “friends” would be coming over to watch movies and hang out. Despite the cold winter air, there was warmth in my heart as it fluttered when Nick Glander walked in. In that moment, I thought “wow this guy has really curly hair, beautiful blue eyes and is really funny.” (even though I constantly tell him he's not) Next thing you know we hit it off and instantly became great friends. We communicated in any capacity we could because I didn’t have a cellphone or texting. So it was stealing a friends phone to send a flirty text or signing on to Facebook and getting to chat. Whatever it was, I wanted to get to know him more. Our love story wasn’t something that happened immediately. It was a slow burn as we grew as friends. Though some would claim he was friend zoned, I’d call it just letting things marinade. Nick lived in a different state for college but our friendship remained the same. Nick was moving back to Georgia to attend school in Athens and I was thrilled to have my best friend near by. One weekend I decided to visit him in Athens. With being friends for so long, there was this unspoken connection that neither of us really brought up. While we were out I was talking to a friend and when I turned to say something to Nick must have been fed up with waiting around, and kissed me. I was completely shocked! And though I had these deep feelings, I was clueless that he had any feelings towards me. From there, our relationship grew into something more. We took things slow and have grown so strong as a couple. We did things right, and we fell in love in the most beautiful way imaginable. We can't wait to share part of our love story with the ones we love.
