A match made in heaven—or more accurately, a match on Tinder! Joey and Ana first connected in 2018, and their first date took place at the Walters Art Museum. They wandered through the galleries, lost in conversation about art, life, and everything in between. It felt like the start of something special. But life had other plans, and after a few months of getting to know each other, they both felt it wasn't the right time, so they parted ways, each going their separate paths, with the hope that maybe someday the stars would align. And align they did. Four years later, Tinder—ahem, fate—reconnected them in the summer of 2022. They decided to have a second first date, this time at Frazier's on the Avenue in Hampden. And just like that, their spark was instantly reignited over a platter of nachos. Their chemistry was undeniable, it was as if no time had passed at all. That summer, they spent every free moment they could together, knowing their time was limited—Ana was leaving for grad school in Miami that fall. Though they initially told themselves a long-distance relationship wasn’t what they wanted, they couldn’t deny the connection between them. Joey visited Ana in Miami, and Ana came back to Baltimore during her fall break—proving that not a single day could go by without them in each other’s lives. Before long, the distance felt less like a barrier and more like a challenge they were willing to face together. By Thanksgiving, when Ana was back home for the holidays, they decided to listen to fate (and, of course, Tinder), and make things official. The miles between them were just the beginning of their adventures together. Ana’s next stop was Chatham, Massachusetts, for a fisheries internship, and Joey made it his mission to visit whenever he could. After Cape Cod, Ana moved to Gloucester for a job on commercial fishing boats, and even though they were separated by the sea, their bond grew stronger. Despite the distance and the long weeks at sea, Joey and Ana never wavered. They knew it was time to take the next step. By spring of 2024, they started making plans to move in together, and that was the moment they knew that no amount of distance could keep them apart. Now, they share a home in Baltimore, Maryland, with their three beloved cats—Miss Winks, Chessie and Frankie. Joey continues to be Ana's rock on land while she’s out at sea, supporting her dreams and reminding her that love is the anchor that keeps them grounded. Together, they’ve learned that no distance is too great and no challenge too difficult. They are stronger together, and they’re looking forward to the many adventures that lie ahead, hand-in-hand, side by side.
