Reaching the Vineyard

Martha's Vineyard can be reached via plane or ferry. Direct flights from New York, Washington D.C., and Boston are available on American, JetBlue and Cape Air. If traveling by car, we recommend that you leave your car in one of the Steamship Authority lots in Falmouth (Cape Cod) and take the shuttle to the ferry boat in Woods Hole, MA. Depending on the time of day, the ferry will arrive in Vineyard Haven or Oak Bluffs; both towns are a mere 15 min taxi to Edgartown. Advance purchase of ferry tickets as a walk-on is not necessary. If you plan to bring a car, you must reserve your round-trip ticket for your vehicle months in advance! Tickets to bring a vehicle to the island are on sale now. The ferry runs hourly, until approximately 9 p.m. Please check the schedule on the steamship authority website. We are available to answer any travel questions!
