We said yes!

September 27, 2019: It's a match! Amy and Andy matched via the cool new dating app on the scene, Facebook Dating. With profile descriptions like, Amy: "A gamer, an anime fan, a GM, a LARPer, NPR addict, and quote trove. I am deeply introspective and love wandering conversations." and Andy: "I'm big on fandoms and I regularly go to conventions. I love Studio Ghibli, Disney, The Beatles, Apple, Nintendo, Technology, Storytelling, and Broadway Musicals," it's no wonder they hit it off so well! Well, actually, that's not the whole story... September 2019 - January 2020: In typical Andy fashion, he took his time to find the perfect words to say to Amy over Facebook Dating. A lot of time. Months, in fact. Even while other matches were sliding in, Andy knew that none of them compared to Amy. But what exactly should Andy say? It had been many months, and Andy hadn't said a word to Amy over chat. Was it too late? Did the perfect words to break this streak of silence even exist? Jan 13, 2020: Amy writes: "Hey there, it's been a while since we matched, would you still be interested in talking?" The perfect words! "Yes, definitely!" Andy replied. "I super appreciate you texting first. My patented get-on-dating-apps-but-rarely-actually-message-anyone technique has not been working. Weird, I know!" Amy responded, "Yeah, I have tried the plan of getting-on-apps-but-rarely-messaging too. I thought I had a monopoly on that -- do you owe me some royalties? :3" And that his how this beautiful relationship began to blossom. Truly a tale as old as time. Many months later, they decided to show each other their OKCupid profiles and check their compatibility score. Amy and Andy got 98%!

June 24, 2022: San Jose Rose Garden Andy took Amy to the San Jose Rose Garden for a picnic and a photoshoot (as one does, nothing suspicious about this at all). We had plenty of our favorite sandwiches, snacks, and marionberry pie packed and ready! After having our picnic and fleeing from early-morning lawn-mowing gardeners, we took pictures beside the yellow roses on the north-west side of the garden. And as we posed for one of the pictures, Andy proposed right then and there, surrounded by flowers (and a few onlookers) in the gardens! Surprise! Amy said "Yes!" And we got it all on 4K video! 😉 🎥 July 22, 2022: San Diego Comic-Con Not to be outdone by Andy's suave Rose Garden proposal, Amy decided to pull off the proposal of Andy's dreams! Deep in the heart of San Diego Comic-Con (the Mezzanine windows overlooking the crowds of the exhibitor hall), we purchased our favorite convention food: pepperoni pizza, chicken tenders, and fries. As we finished eating, Amy gave Andy her earphones to show him a song. Listening intently, Andy notices something: "This song sure mentions a lot of things we both like! Hey, they even make the same references we do!" Andy wondered where such a song could have come from. Surprise! Amy commissioned the song to propose with! She opened up the ring box and proposed right then and there surrounded by all of Comic-Con! Amy and Andy make each other's dreams come true with their partnership and love for each other. Anything is possible when we do it together.
