Our Story

The story of a swipe, a long drive, and a lot of love.

On December 18, 2022, I matched with Sam on a dating app. The last thing I anticipated was someone driving from Dallas all the way to Tulsa just to see me. But after weeks of texting and talking, that's exactly what Sam did. He planned an entire weekend in January: Saturday brunch, an evening Italian dinner, and what was supposed to be a comedy show (turned out to be open mic night, which was... an experience). He showed up with flowers and genuine excitement to explore a city he'd never been to, all because I lived there. What struck me wasn't just that he made the trip, but how he approached everything. Sam planned dates intentionally, asked questions that mattered, and had this way of being completely present in every conversation. He was sincere in a way that felt refreshing, and somehow made me feel completely at ease. Then, February 3, 2023, Sam officially asked me to be his girlfriend. Despite the distance between us, saying yes turned out to be one of the best decisions we both have ever made. The long distance that followed should have been impossible, but Sam's commitment made it work. He was patient when the miles felt endless, understanding when logistics got complicated, and consistent in ways that made me feel secure. What he didn't know was that my teaching program was already set to move me closer to Dallas. I kept that to myself initially because, honestly, I just wanted to see just how far he was willing to go. Turns out, pretty far. Week after week, he kept making the drive, and that dedication was what truly captivated me. Looking back, I'm struck by how Sam never tried to rush anything or convince me of anything. He just showed up, again and again, until showing up became the foundation of everything we built together. It wasn't about fancy gestures, but about his willingness to drive two hundred and fifty miles because he believed we had something. And sometimes, a single swipe and a lot of commitment is all it takes to find your person.
