Ryan and Amy’s story began where neither expected to find one another—on an adult oncology unit, working side by side on our first nursing jobs out of school. Long shifts, some good teamwork, and lots of crazy stories laid the foundation for a deep friendship. Ryan, an avid snowboarder, eventually invited Amy to join him for a day on the mountain, a chance to spend some time outside of the sometimes dreary hospital floor. That day was a fantastic time; between fresh air, laughter, and time together- even despite Amy’s soreness over the coming days, we knew we got lucky in finding one another. Fast forward three years, and life looks beautifully different. Ryan and Amy now live together in their beloved home in Portland, Oregon, building a life filled with love, adventure, and gratitude. Though they no longer work together, they’ll always be thankful their careers brought them to the same place at the same time—because that’s where they found each other.
