How We Met

January 2020

It was the spring semester of our junior year. We had our first class together, Intro to Marketing. We both arrived early and were waiting outside of the classroom, when our mutual friend, Brett Carlson (Nathan’s best man) showed up. Amy went to say hi and Brett introduced the two, “This is Woody.” “It’s Nathan,” Nathan said as he shook Amy’s hand. Brett quipped, “He only says that to girls he likes.” Before Nathan could object, the classroom doors opened and we went in to sit together, with Brett in-between the future love birds. But, soon, Amy and Nathan were sitting next to each other, studying together, constantly flirting, and learning more about each other than about marketing.

The Proposal

April 2019

It was Easter of our senior year. Nathan had made plans with an “amateur” photographer who wanted to do a “practice couples shoot” with us. We drove out to a beautiful place in Jasper, AR called Triple Falls and met up with our photog. We took normal couple photos and moved around to different areas of the falls. We moved to our final spot, right in front of the three waterfalls and our photog told us that this would be the last couple shots. Nathan tried to start his speech, but Amy wasn’t catching on. After every nice thing he said, Amy cut him off to say “thank you” or “awe babe” which forced him to skip to the part where he got down on one knee and that’s when Amy finally realized what was happening. “Amy Marie Koch, will you marry me?” Of course, she said yes!! Then, he put the ring on and made it official! We’re so excited to celebrate this next chapter of our lives with you!
