Our Story

Growing up in west Los Angeles, Amy dreamed of getting out of California and going to college on the East coast, however, God had other plans. She ended up attending UCLA only 15 minutes from home starting in Fall 2009. For Miles, making the decision to move from rural Northern California to LA for college was easy (Fall 2012). The two of them first crossed paths in a Christian club on campus. Amy graduated in Fall 2013, forgot about Miles, and went on to pursue further education and career opportunities in Anaheim and then Boston. Likewise, but a few years behind, Miles graduated in Spring 2016 then moved to the OC to begin his Bible Truth and Church Service training, the Full-Time Training in Anaheim (which Amy also attended, yet the two never overlapped). Upon graduating the FTTA in June 2018, Miles considered very much whether to further his schooling or to move back to NorCal, but it became clearer to him that there was a calling to come back to Los Angeles. He began to work in LA, serving with the campus ministry organization through which he and Amy originally met. Some months before this Amy had likewise moved back home to LA, realizing that the East coast was not for her after all. The two began to cross paths again at church, and saw each other even more once Amy began to volunteer at UCLA. It was then that they both began to notice each other. At one point, it seemed as if they wouldn't go a day without seeing one another. This sparked much anonymous prayer for one another, until Miles couldn't take it anymore and asked to see if she was interested. To his delight, she shared the same feelings! The two began seeing each other in late February 2019. :)

The Proposal

March 1, 2020

On one beautiful early afternoon, Miles and Amy went for a walk at a frequently visited date spot, the Venice Canals. When crossing a bridge over one of the canals, Miles took a knee and asked Amy to marry him. She said, "Yes." And then Miles, blinded with excitement, asked, "Which hand is your left?" Amy's childhood friend Faith hid behind some dumpsters and was able to catch the photos you can look at here on the website.
