We met on Facebook Dating! In facebook dating there was no swipe right, swipe left. It was "hearting". Matt hearted Amy first, and then she hearted back. The rest is history! The day that she matched with Matt, the next day she had already planned to get off of the online dating train. We are both so glad we matched when we did. After about 1.5 years of traveling back and forth to Asheville - Bessemer City, and doing long distance dating, Amy decided to move down to Bessemer in July 2024. She landed a job at the local High School, teaching the same thing she was teaching in Asheville. February 22, 2025 Matt proposed! It was the best day. We planned to go up to Asheville to have dinner with Amy's Mom. Matt mentioned wanting to go up to the Estate because he knows how special the Biltmore Estate is to her. (That's a story for a different time). We pulled into the Lagoon area, and started walking over towards where you can see the back of the house in the background. Right before he got down on one knee, he asked her "What kind of rock is that?" trying to stall on time. She thought that was the silliest question, and responded with "ummmm...I don't know, granite?!" Once we giggled at that we started walking towards the waters edge, and Amy saw a sign that was up and said, "Miss Motley > Mrs. Weaver?" And of course she said yes! After that, she started hearing cheering and saw her Mom, her best friend, family friends, his Mom, brother, and many people who are so important to us. Somehow Amy's Mom was able to get all of these people onto the property to celebrate with us! It took a lot of planning, and it was one of the best days! We went to the Winery after, discussed all the planning and details that went into the big question. After that, we went to Pack's Tavern which is where Matt and Amy had their first date, just two years earlier.
