Like every great modern romance, ours began the way all true love stories do: on an app...that's right...Bumble — because nothing says “happily ever after” like swiping through strangers in your sweatpants, eating snacks in bed. Since Bumble makes the girl message first, she had to set the tone. And boy, did she deliver: “I recently fell down the stairs and broke my foot, so you could say I’ve already fallen for you.” It was bold. It was punny. It was peak millennial energy. And honestly? He never stood a chance. A few messages later, we decided to meet up at Buffalo Wild Wings — because, naturally, nothing builds romance like spicy wings, cheap beer, and yelling about football. Despite her post-shift exhaustion and his questionable wing flavor choices, we hit it off instantly. Then, just as things were getting good… he came down with COVID. Perfect timing, really. But even through his quarantine, we texted, called, and proved that if you can fall in love through text and phone calls, you can survive anything. Once he recovered, we took our first road trip to Luray Caverns in western Virginia — a true test of compatibility featuring long drives, off-key car karaoke, and gas station snacks. Not long after, we hit Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens, which she only agreed to because she was trying to seem brave. (She screamed the entire time. He found it hilarious. It’s fine, we’re fine.) Six months later, the Navy moved him to Great Lakes, Illinois, and we officially entered our long-distance era. Between airport reunions, video calls, and way too many texts to count, we made it work — because when you know, you know. Fast forward to the 4th of July, surrounded by fireworks, family, and the most romantic wardrobe choice imaginable: a patriotic cat cutoff shirt. Yep. Red, white, blue — and cats. It was glorious. And somehow, amid all that freedom and feline flair, he got down on one knee and proposed. It was the perfect mix of heartfelt, hilarious, and undeniably us. Now, we’re ready to make it official — surrounded by our favorite people, a whole lot of love, and maybe even a callback to that infamous cat shirt (no promises). Thanks for being part of our story — and for proving that sometimes, true love really can start with a swipe, some wings, and a very questionable fashion choice.
