We swiped right! We both used the online date app, Bumble. Karen had her geographical settings very limited, which put Amy just outside of her range, with Karen in Wake County and Amy in Forsyth County. Luckily, Karen was traveling to Gardner-Webb University and stopped to stay at her parents' house near Salisbury. That same weekend, Amy was traveling to the mountains to take her parents on vacation. There was a *small* window of time that they were within each other's "range" on the app. They both swiped right and as they say....the rest is history :-)
Because Amy was out-of-town with her parents on vacation, it took a couple of weeks for Karen and Amy to find a time to go on an in-person date. Finally, on June 14, 2019, they spent 10 hours together, hitting golf balls (Karen didn't realize how athletic Amy was!), spending time in the botanical gardens in Greensboro, going out to eat, and talking for hours. In 2020, they returned to that same garden in Greensboro to give thanks for the past year together. In 2021, Amy had a staff retreat on June 14, so she met Karen in Greensboro to again give thanks for another year together. Little did Amy know, Karen was hiding a ring...in a ziplock bag...in her bra - hahaha! As they did their traditional walking around the garden, they got to "their swing" and were talking about where to eat dinner. Karen turns music on her phone and asked Amy to dance (in public!! A big deal for Karen!). At the end of the song, Karen dropped to one knee, pulled the baggie out of her bra, and asked Amy to marry her. Of course Amy said yes!
