On January 29, 2019, Amy showed up on John’s doorstep for a Bible study group, only to find out it had been canceled that evening. When John opened the door, they both immediately thought ‘HEL-LOOO’ but played it cool that night. In the weeks that followed, they took advantage of the opportunity to get to know one another through this Bible study group. Discovering their mutual depth of faith during that time, further solidified their curiosity about exploring their connection. After three months, John initiated a casual hangout to determine if there was ‘more’ and the rest is history. People often say, ‘You can’t just expect someone to show up on your doorstep.’ Amy and John know different and often marvel, 'Imagine that, it can actually happen!'

Exactly one year after meeting, John and Amy were feeling sentimental and wanted to reenact the moment they met. They planned for her to show up around the same time, at the same door, to go through the same dialogue of how group was canceled, and for him to tell her she was going to have to come back next week. This time, however, when John opened the door, instead of letting her know group was canceled, he dropped to one knee with a ring and asked, ‘Will you marry, me?’ To which Amy smiled, happily nodded and said, ‘Yes, yes, I will.’ Afterwards, they went to one of their favorite spots in Costa Mesa, where John had arranged for both sets of parents and a few close friends to be waiting to join them in the celebration of their newly minted engagement.
