I remember bartending one night and my boss tells me she has an interview with a new guy that she was thinking about hiring. I thought nothing of it, until I saw him. He came in dressed nice, hair all done, and then ordered my favorite drink, vodka red bull. I thought no way this guy is real. He has to be gay right? He was dressed way to nice and looked way to put together to be straight. The next night I saw him out at the other bar in town (there's only 2 in our small town). I was there meeting up with someone who had blew me off, so when Mr. Handsome walked by again I struck up a conversation with him. As we talked, he kept telling me I needed to raise my standards in men and choose better guys to give my attention to. He told me I deserved to be taken on a real date. So I challenged him on that offer and told him to take me on a date then. The more we talked and got to know each other the more I knew this guy was something special. He took me on that unforgettable first date and that was the date that changed my life forever.
After months and months of asking all his friends questions about when, how, or where Garie was going to propose he finally told me to let it go, it wasn't going to happen this year (2018). I was pretty bummed because we had been together almost 3 years and I was getting antsy. I knew it was eventually going to happen but it wasn't coming fast enough! My brother got engaged in September of 2018 and I knew that had to happen before we would get engaged. So at this point I am thinking what else can he be waiting on!? Well little did I know he was secretly planning it all out. Of course, he sucks at keeping secrets so he didn't follow his original plan at all. Since the day we met and started talking about marriage I told him my big thing was I don't want to be proposed to in front of my friends and family or even out in public. I think it is something that is intimate and between just the 2 of you. Well he did exactly that. We had just moved into our new house 2 weeks before. We ordered new bedroom furniture and it had just got delivered that day. I asked Garie to move them to the bedroom while I cleaned up dinner. He goes to the bedroom and comes back out a few minutes later and pushes the night stand into the kitchen. He asks me to check it out before he puts it away. Me being a little annoyed because I know what they look like, I mean heck I picked them out at the store. After him asking multiple times and me getting more annoyed I finally quickly look through it and tell him to put it away. "But you didn't look in the secret drawer" he says. Again, annoyed I open the drawer and see a little red box. I froze. He pulled it out, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. I thought it was a joke. There was no way this beautiful ring was for me. I just kept asking if he was serious. Finally I said YES!!! I couldn't have imagined a better proposal. The first memory in our new house was me getting my wish granted.
