Maid of Honor
It all started in 7th grade gym class when we invented a very creatively-named game called "Amyball." The rest is history. We shared a name, a dorm room, and a college apartment. We traveled to Peru together, kept a goldfish alive for several years, went to Harry Potter midnight releases, played in various bands and orchestras, became doctors, and learned the ukulele together. No matter what states we live in, we're always there for each other. So glad to have Amy #2 by my side as my official #2 on my wedding day!
Best Man
Brad and I met at UMBC. On that fateful night, we communicated exclusively in meme and quotes from our favorite TV and games. This continues to this day... Brad and I have shared many adventures - some while traveling to distant lands, many more around the gaming table. One night, as we were watching TV, I was telling Brad about Amy, my coworker at the time. I was unsure if I should pursue her, but he insisted that I should. This shindig may have never happened without his instigation!
Bridesmaid
Before Kathy began her adventures traveling the world, she and I bonded over surviving summer gym class together before starting high school. Over the years since then, we've been concert buddies, Spanish study buddies, and college roommates. We've somehow been mistaken for each other multiple times and we've planned themed parties from Pokemon to Tron. No matter where in the world she is, I know she's only a text away and am so happy to have her as my bridesmaid!
Groomsman
Adrian is my first and oldest friend made in college at UMBC. We were even in the same pledge class of our fraternity. Once Adrian went to a class for me and took notes, all for the promised reward of in-game treasure in a game of Dungeons and Dragons (#truefriend). I am distressingly too "zazzy" for this guy, as evident in the photo of us at the Renaissance Faire... Nonetheless, we still manage to travel the world and watch entirely too much old British sci-fi together.
Bridesmaid
Vievee is a talented poet who definitely could have written this blurb much better than I. I met Vievee when I was 12 and was overjoyed when she married my brother Matthew and officially joined the family. I was ecstatic to finally have a sister(-in-law) and loved introducing her to everyone as my big sister (as I still do today!). It's hard to believe I was her junior bridesmaid nearly 18 years ago and I'm so excited to have her as a part of my bridal fellowship now!
Groomsman
Aaron and I met at UMBC. Nicknamed "the Brain" by our fraternity, Aaron is both a voice or reason and a dangerously adventurous soul... Did you know you can run down a hill of solid ice faster than you can fall down it (#science!)? Aaron is an easy-going and dependable friend who bakes amazing treats, organizes hikes, and finds time to watch bad sci-fi with us once a week! He can even make a perfect macaron. Aaron jealously guards his encyclopedic knowledge of all the best places to eat and drink in Frederick, but we've learned to live with that...
Bridesmaid
Elena is my sister-in-law and also the mother of the flower girl and ring bearer! Thanks to her family for being a significant portion of our wedding party! I met Elena 13 years ago when my brother James initially introduced her as his "not girlfriend" or "NGF." Happy to say, James quickly asked her to drop the "N" and I was so glad to have Elena join the family! I'm grateful to have had her support over the years and to have been a part of their wedding, and I'm thrilled to have Elena as my bridesmaid now!
Groomsman
Mom always warned me that my little brother would grow up... Rob and I spent most of our childhoods in Western Maryland, roaming the hills and woods and living it up at 4-H (first as campers, then as counselors). We have extremely different personalities, but somehow share a love for all things ridiculous, whimsical, and outlandish. We are epic Halloween decorators and Ren Faire revelers. It's immediately apparent we're brothers.
Reader
I'm proud to have booked an award-winning poet (and my eldest brother) as the wedding ceremony reader. It only took getting married to get him to write a poem for me :)
Groomsman
Kevin and I met on World of Warcraft, the insanely popular online game. He joined our guild, made up mostly of my fraternity brothers at UMBC. The crew eventually lured him to UMBC for college and became IRL friends! These days we can usually be found playing table top games together. Kevin is a great cook and game master and a dependable friend. I was honored to be a part of his wedding, and am honored he will be part of mine!
Bearer of the Ring Bearer
There's no one I would trust more than my brother James to be the Sam to Ben's Frodo! Let's get this ring to Mordor! ...Or something like that.
Groomsman
Brian and I met through mutual friends at pub trivia. I somehow convinced him to go to a steampunk convention with me, and we've been friends ever since! A constant companion in all the crazy things the crew gets up to, Brian is as good humored as they come. A genuine guy with a huge heart, I was honored to be part of his wedding, and so glad he can join my wedding fellowship!
Groomsman
Mark and I met at pub trivia through mutual friends. We share a similar taste in movies, TV, and table top games. We've trekked the Inca Trail, but our most epic adventure is his yearly Lord of the Rings movie marathon! Mark is one of the most easy-going, fun-loving guys you'll meet. He's always the first to say "I'm in!" to whatever misadventure is in the works. He was as excited to join the wedding party as I was to ask him!
Officiant
Jason is my big brother. Though we live states apart, we are one the same wavelength - we are still discovering similarities we both share to this day, which always brings us joy! He's the friendliest and most welcoming guy you will meet. Jason is incredibly industrious and wears many hats. One such hat is that of an ordained minister in the Universalist Life Church. I am lucky to have my big brother as the officiant for the big day, and honored he accepted the challenge!
Flower Girl
Ring Bearer (aka Lord of the Rings)
