How We Met

A modern day love story - they met on Hinge!

Amy matched with Danny on Hinge in January 2023, and from the start, Amy wanted to take a chance on this Jersey boy! Danny willingly traveled an hour and a half into New York City in the middle of winter without a jacket to meet each other, a bold move that Amy still brings up. Their first date was at Rosemary's in the West Village, where Amy confidently ordered Aperol Spritzes (obviously) and Danny had never even heard of one before, but quickly pretended he had. They wrapped up the night with a few too many glasses of wine at Stafili Wine Bar, laughing like they’d known each other for years. Since Amy was one of the first to bring home a “serious someone,” her mom Cheryl tried to play it cool. Instead of prying, she’d casually ask, “So… how’s D?” and just like that, Danny got a nickname that stuck. Amy and Danny kept the momentum going with fun city adventures and late-night Facetime calls, eventually making it official in May 2023, with Morgan Wallen blasting in the background (naturally). From that point on, they were pretty much inseparable, ending every nightly phone call with a cheeky “love you, my soulmate” (yes, really). By August 2024, Amy made the move to Hoboken in Danny's penthouse apartment (5th floor walkup), and the two officially started their shared life together. Amy had always dreamed of a beach proposal, and Danny, determined to keep her guessing, launched what he called their “weekly engagement walks” every Friday in the summer of 2025. Little did Amy know, the proposal came on the very first walk, with Jessi expertly hiding the ring box in her shorts, and photographer hiding in the bushes. It was, of course, a resounding "YES!", (we think, Amy recalls the story as "blacking out of happiness"). Amy & Danny's relationship has grown through sun-soaked beach days and cozy off-season weekends in Lavallette, the place they both consider their happy place. So it only makes sense that they’re saying “I do” where it all feels most like home, by the shore, surrounded by sand, sea, and a whole lot of love.

The Significance of Long Beach Island

Long Beach Island holds a special place in their hearts, especially Beach Haven, where both their families spent countless summers growing up. It's where endless memories were made with long days on the beach, Fantasy island strolls, and evenings filled with laughter and family traditions. Amy's mom even worked at the local fudge shop, adding an extra layer of sweet nostalgia to this beloved place. They have always loved the beach and the calm, coastal energy that comes with it, and for as long as they can remember, they imagined saying "I do" with the ocean as their backdrop. Choosing LBI for their wedding isn’t just about the beauty of the shore, it’s about being at a place that feels like home.

Forever in Our Hearts

Though Amy’s mom is no longer here with us, her absence is deeply felt every single day, especially on this special occasion. She is missed more than words can express, and everyone wishes she could be here to share in the joy and celebration. Her love, kindness, and strength have shaped all of those who knew her, and her memory lives on in everything we do. She truly loved Danny and was so happy to see the spark between Amy and Danny from the very beginning. She knew right away, after seeing them together, that he was the one for Amy and that certainty brings a deep sense of peace and comfort to them both. As everyone gathers to celebrate, her spirit is carried warmly in their hearts. Though she cannot stand beside them physically, it is felt that she is watching over with boundless love, smiling down and sharing in this moment. She is honored today and always, held close as this new chapter begins.
