In high school, we both separately attended a camp called the National Student Leadership Conference (NSLC). Each year, NSLC is held at a different college campus and high school students from across the country attend to learn about leadership and community service. In 2016, Colin was in his last year at Penn State and Amy was in her junior year at Colgate. As fate would have it, we both applied for positions for the camp being held at Northwestern that summer. We quickly became inseparable and were the dynamic duo of camp counselors. We were known for our overly enthusiastic (and incredibly awkward) dancing as we welcomed the students into each event. At the end of the summer, we went our separate ways but continued to talk every day. We both suspected the other had feelings but neither of us wanted to risk ruining the friendship that we had by bringing up the "what are we" conversation. However, when Amy planned to drive out to Penn State to go to a Rascal Flats concert with Colin that conversation quickly became unavoidable. We began dating long-distance and took turns driving the dreadful 5+ hours from one middle-of-nowhere school to the other. As Amy approached graduation, she decided to move back to California and prepared for a difficult conversation with Colin. However, Colin jumped right on board, asked for a transfer with Deloitte to anywhere on the west coast, was swiftly transferred to the Los Angeles office, and actually drove across the country from Amy's college graduation ceremony. We have grown together through exceptional highs and difficult lows over the years since. In November 2021, Colin proposed... well, you know the rest!
