In July 2023, Brett surprised Amy with a sunset gondola ride where he proposed to his best friend. It took 14 years but every minute was worth the wait. Amy and Brett met first semester freshman year of high school in San Diego. 4 years, 3 winter formals, 2 proms, and all the cliche high school romance a couple could ask for later, graduation rolled around and Brett and Amy parted ways. With Brett at the University of Washington in Seattle and Amy at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, both were able to pursue their passions and mature as individuals. "If you love someone, set them free; if they come back to you, it was meant to be." June 2020, in the midst of a pandemic, Brett shot his shot and reached out to Amy while they were both back in San Diego. A couple tacos later, their fate was sealed. It felt as though no time had passed and the two have been inseparable ever since. It would be false to say they immediately fell back in love because they never stopped loving each other throughout the years. Shout out to COVID airfare for the cheap flights that allowed Amy and Brett to fly back and forth between Seattle and Chicago for the next nine months. Although the long distance adventures were fun, Brett moved to Chicago in 2021 where Amy, Brett, and their beautiful french bull dog, Kobe, moved into their first apartment together. A year later, all three drove cross country to San Diego to begin a new chapter of their love story.
