Here you will find airport, travel and hotel information. There are a lot of options for accommodations in NYC but the ones listed here are offering us promotional rates and are closest to our wedding venue. Feel free to contact us with any questions or for additional recommendations.

Flight

Laguardia Airport

Laguardia airport is the closest to Manhattan and the smallest. This is the most convenient airport to fly into but may not have as many flight options for international travelers. A taxi/ride share to Manhattan or Brooklyn costs $35-50 (excluding tolls and tip). Travel time to Manhattan or Brooklyn is 30-45min depending on destination and traffic (there's always traffic). For public transport- there's no direct subway access from this airport. You can take a bus to the subway. For more information visit Laguardia's website.

Flight

JFK Airport

Located in Queens, NY JFK is the largest airport in NYC and the one with the most flight options, especially for international travelers. Driving from JFK into the city takes about an hour. Taxis to Manhattan charge a $52 flat rate (slightly higher during peak times) and from JFK to Brooklyn is around $55 not including tolls and tip. Ride sharing services (Lyft/Uber) will cost about the same. For public transportation you can either take the Airtrain to the Subway or the bus. The airtrain/subway will take over an hour and will cost around $10.75 ($8.00 for the airtrain plus $2.75 for the subway). Buses will take 1.5-2hrs and costs around $5.50. For more information on getting to or from the airport visit JFK website.

Flight

Newark Airport

JUST DON'T. While the slightly cheaper flight prices might lure you in, this airport is 1.5hrs outside of the city and can cost up to $70 for a taxi/ride share. Public transport options are Air train to NJ transit (train) arriving into Penn Station (W 33rd st Manhattan) and then a subway ride into Brooklyn. The Airtrain costs $7.75 plus $15 for NJ train to Penn station and $2.75 for the subway. The better option is to take the Airport express bus service to Grand Central Station (E 42nd st) in Manhattan and costs $17 one way plus $2.75 for the subway.

Travel Note

NYC public transport

This is the most convenient way to get around NYC. The MTA website (link above) is your one stop shop for all information on NYC public transport. Please note that although trains and busses operate 24/7 they become less frequent late at night and on weekends. Weekends are also a popular time for MTA to do track work which causes delays in service. The Citymapper app is great for navigating NYC transport and will provide real time service updates on trains/busses. You can find this information on MTA website/app also but I personally don't think it's as good.
