While we were both attending BYU-Idaho, Andrew's old mission companion and Amy's roommate thought they would hit it off and set them up on a blind date. Andrew took Amy on a fantastic first date on February 27th 2021! They went axe throwing then dinner and games at Bishop & Sister Cook's house afterwards. They both knew this date had been a special one. Amy was thrilled when Andrew asked her on a second date at the end of the night to watch a Utah Jazz game. They continued to get to know each other over the next two months and decided to become an official couple the day that Andrew left for Summer Sales in Texas. They next four months of summer was spent communicating through letters, texts, and hours each day on the phone.
In August, Amy flew to Texas to meet up with Andrew when he was finished with Summer Sales. They then drove together to Stockton, Missouri (Andrew's hometown) for Amy to get to know Andrew's family. The second night in Missouri, Sierra Molly (Andrew's younger sister) had invited the couple to a formal dinner on the bridge Andrew built years ago for his Eagle Scout Project. It couldn't have been a more delightful evening. Amy even joked with Andrew that he would have a lot to top when he proposes after a night like this. Later that evening after sharing their most special moment together Andrew got down on one knee and proposed to Amy. Amy was completely caught off guard. She had been convinced Andrew wouldn't even ask for her dad's permission till after their Missouri trip. Little did she know he had asked Jerry back in May and had been planning this all summer with the help of both his family and Amy's. It was an absolutely perfect memory!
