This all started on the internet. Did we expect to meet our forever person through an online dating app? We certainly didn’t know, but boy we couldn’t be happier that we both swiped right. It must’ve been the dog pictures of course. Once we matched, Andrew decided to shoot his shot and send Amy a witty pick up line. However, that pick up line went right over Amy’s head and she decided to cut to what’s important - what football team does he support. Knowing if it was the Cowboys or Giants, they couldn’t possibly work out as a couple. Luckily, Andrew is a 49ers fan and Amy an Eagles fan, so all was good! We talked for a while getting to know one another and then eventually exchanged phone numbers. Suddenly, Andrew hadn’t heard from Amy for about two weeks and thought maybe that was the end of it? Would they ever actually meet? To Andrew’s surprise, Amy came back around and sent him an early morning message as he was pulling into work. Conversation picked right back up and shortly afterwards, they planned a day for their first date.
After Amy took a trip to North Carolina to visit family and friends, our first date was here! We planned to meet at Hops, a craft bar with a surprisingly delicious salad and fish and chips (our first meals). However, it was shockingly confusing to both of us how to get into Hops, so instead (after Amy almost went up to the wrong guy) we ended up staying at the bar in The Famished Frog for a couple of hours and losing track of time. Before we knew it, it had been at least 3 hours and we needed to get some food in our stomachs before the drinks started catching up to us. We finally figured out how to get into Hops 👏🏼.
Well, 2020 happened and we, as well as the rest of the world, were quarantined. Prior to lockdown beginning, we had plans to go travel and explore overseas, destination TBD. That of course didn’t work out and we were lucky enough that we didn’t yet buy our flights and book accomodations. One less thing to worry about. Amy started working from home full time, while Andrew still had to go into the lab, with higher safety precautions in place. 4 months into lockdown and we were itching to go somewhere other than the usual neighborhood walk with the dogs. We each took some time off of work and went down to Kentucky, where Andrew’s parents have a home. We were looking forward to some down time, hiking, and tasting some quality Kentucky bourbon (even though Bourbon isn’t really either of our drink of choice). Once we got settled down at Andrew’s parents house, we found Mammouth Cave National Park was nearby and decided we’d go for a hike there on Saturday. The day before the hike, Andrew told Amy that he would take us on a stroll down memory lane to talk about our first few dates, all of the great times we’ve had together, the trips we’ve taken, and then... he would propose! Amy of course didn’t believe him, told him to shut up and rolled her eyes. Little did Amy know that Andrew’s whole family was in on this too. Saturday morning came along and we realized it was going to be a very hot and humid day, so we left the dogs at home and started driving to Mammouth Cave National Park. Andrew’s sister, Emily, joined along and Andrew did just as he said, started taking us all down memory lane. We finally got to an area along the trail that faced the river, and Andrew said “This would be a really great spot for you to propose to me”, again, Amy rolled her eyes and started walking away until Andrew came back to say, “OR I could propose to you” while pulling a ring box out of his pocket. It actually happened! 🥰💍
Thank you for coming to celebrate our special day! We are so excited to have you all here with us as we say 'I Do'. Due to the venue site, we will be having a 21+ wedding.
