We met…on Christmas Day in 2011. We went out for a movie and Chinese food in DC with a bunch of friends. At the Jewish Irish Pub we ended up at (Star and Shamrock), Amy was clueless that Aaron was interested in her. A few days later, Aaron threw a New Years party at his apartment and made sure that Amy was invited, via Sara and Jacob. This time, Aaron got her number. We could have met many other times over the course of our lives growing up 30 minutes from each other-Aaron’s sister Lauren and his cousin Emily were both in camp plays with Amy, she met his mom when a friend wanted to introduce Amy to the teacher that helped her through her first year...there were lots of times we could have crossed paths, but we found each other at the right time! Our first date…we went to an improv show (Comedy Sports) and to a barbeque restaurant where Aaron couldn’t eat anything (he was a strict vegetarian at the time!). The place Aaron had planned for dinner had a two hour wait (they would not take a reservation), so we found the only other place within a few blocks that could seat us right away so we wouldn’t be late for the Improv show. We shared one appetizer, one salad, and a bottle of wine. This was the also the first time Aaron had ordered a bottle of wine from a restaurant, so it was pretty funny. Our proposal… went more smoothly than our first date. On Amy’s birthday we went out for a dinner at our favorite local restaurant. This restaurant also does not usually take reservations, but Aaron convinced them to reserve a special table, and had them prepare a bottle of Champagne to be popped right after he popped the question. Amy was speechless, but she said yes!
