It is with a heavy heart that we must postpone our wedding due to the escalating concerns of COVID-19. This was a difficult decision for both of us, but we understand that preventing a massive outbreak requires hard calls to make. Nothing is more important to us than protecting the health and comfort of our family and friends. We wish we could say and show how extremely fortunate we are for everyone's love, wishes, and plans to come join us in celebration, and we want to apologize for any inconveniences this has caused. The year is 2013 and Amtul and Shakir are sitting in a religious studies and philosophy class. Amtul, with her big brown eyes, caught eye of a cutie, Shakir, and had her eyes set on him ever since. Of course, she had to be strategic about this - what better way to do that than showing the power of her brain. From memorizing historical dates & philosopher's names, to sending vlookup formulas during exams, Amtul was basically saying "hello, I love you, let's get this thing going." Flash forward 2 years, the stars had finally aligned for them. It was a chilly night in January and Amtul is trying to play it cool as if Shakir is just another "good friend" of hers. Her poker face is non-existent to Shakir, as he's always been really great at reading her emotions. At last, Shakir had confessed his feelings! Ever since then, it's just been two goofballs taking on life. That was until Shakir proposed to Amtul with a 3rd goofball (an adorable one that is) who goes by the name of Yogi, their little fluffy golden retriever! [More about the proposal below, if you're interested 🙂] We are so excited to celebrate our new family with you all & we really hope you all can join us on Saturday March 28th, 2020 in Dallas Texas.

This was not Amtul's typical manic Monday. Shakir had been gone for about 2 weeks on a family trip overseas and Amtul was ready more than ever to be reunited. She hears a knock and excitedly sprints 10 feet (she was already expecting Shakir's arrival) to the front door. Amtul busts that door wide open and.....Holy. Moly. Omg. aksdfkjhds. Shakir is holding a furry, caramel-colored, sweet, tiny, angel puppy. Not just any kind of puppy, but a golden retriever - their absolute dream breed. She immediately drops to the floor, completely shocked. And then hears Shakir say, "Yogi and I were talking in the car..." Amtul forces her eyes away from the fur ball and is drawn to the sparkling, glistening rock in Shakir's hand. "And we were wondering if you'd be our mom forever?" This was all so intense for Amtul. She held her stomach because she almost threw up. She was overcome with so many purely joyous emotions. Yeses and head nods were exchanged and the rest is history.
