Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Lara Sánchez-Morales and Isaac Rodríguez-Roman
There is so much to do in Puerto Rico that even our recommendations will not suffice. We have included some of the spots that are important to us although by no means do they represent the range of adventures you can get into in the island. For better curated suggestions check out Platea PR's website. https://www.plateapr.com/en/

Old San Juan

Learn about the history of the capital with guided tours or just by walking. There are plenty of restaurants with great food and drinks. Enjoy the sunset from El Morro. Bring comfortable shoes!

Carretera #10

Travel from Arecibo to Utuado through road PR-10. This is one of Lara's favorite routes and next to one of her field sites. The road was constructed between limestone haystack hills and provides a beautiful scenery no matter if you are travelling from north-to-south OR south-to-north.

Save a Gato

While visiting Old San Juan, take a stroll down El Morro pathway and meet the cats of Save a Gato. Take a picture and rejoice in the amazing job this organization is doing to save cats' lives in PR. If you feel like it, consider making a donation <3 The cats (and Lara) would appreciate it very much.

El Yunque National Rainforest

Take a hike up any of the trails at El Yunque, our renowned national rainforest.

Ponce, La Ciudad Señorial

If you didn't know, the groom was born and raised in Ponce, also known as "La Ciudad Señorial". Make him proud by taking a roadtrip through the south of the island and stopping by his natal city.

Playa Mar Chiquita

One of our favorite beaches and pretty accessible. If you go this beach please do not climb up the aeolianite rocks and respect the sea currents. Please remember to pick up after yourself.

Avenida Universidad, Río Piedras

Visit the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras Campus. This is where Lara and Isaac met (the first time). Take a picture in front of the University's tower, visit the Museum of History, Art and Anthropology, or walk around the beautiful campus. If you are still there at night check out El Refugio and El Boricua to see what they got going on.

La Piedra Escrita, Jayuya

This indigenous petroglyph is located on the bank of the Río de Jayuya. There is parking and a ramp that allows you to see down to the rock. Jayuya and the interior mountains are a great place to connect with our ancient roots. While you are in Jayuya, you can also visit The Museum of the Cemí.

Caguana Ceremonial Indigenous Heritage Center

Located in Utuado, this is one of Puerto Rico's most important archaeological sites. It has a museum with archaeological artifacts and information about the site. The site itself is a group of 'bateyes' or ceremonial plazas with their original petroglyphs and pictographies in the monoliths. Please transit with respect for the site and the ancestors.

Ruta Panorámica

For this one we are just going to cite the website we have included..."This is not a drive for the faint of heart. This is a road trip on two-lane roads that crest steep mountains with farms on either side, skirt sheer cliff drops, feature hairpin turns, variable weather conditions, and which are also used by trucks, party buses, and speedy local drivers. This is an adventure road trip, ideal for the confident driver, the nature lover, and the visitor looking to know a different side of Puerto Rico beyond manicured hotels and tranquil beaches." We recommend to get a vehicle with extra good traction and stop by the "chinchorros" along the way (drink and drive responsibly!).

For all the days along the way
