When we first matched on Hinge, we never could have imagined where one simple swipe would lead. While meeting online may not sound like the most romantic beginning, we truly believe God had His hand in our story from the very start. Somehow, at exactly the right time, He placed us in each other’s lives and we’re so thankful He did. Our first date was anything but perfect on paper, which somehow made it perfect for us. Lucas planned a picnic on the Dunedin Causeway, but between getting delayed at work, rushing to set up in the Florida heat, and the nonstop rain that followed us everywhere we went, the night turned into a series of improvised plans. We ate sandwiches in the rain, hid under trees, played arcade games at Reboot in Dunedin, and eventually sat outside talking while the power went out around us…using our phone flashlights just to see each other. What Lucas thought was a disaster of a first date turned out to be the beginning of something neither of us wanted to end. Looking back now, it feels fitting that our story started in the middle of unexpected rain, changed plans, and imperfect moments. From the very beginning, we learned that love isn’t always polished or picture-perfect. Sometimes it’s messy, unpredictable, and requires choosing each other through the chaos. And honestly, we wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. We’re so grateful to have found someone we can walk through all of life’s unexpected moments with, side by side. One of our favorite parts of our story is how God clearly has a sense of humor. Just a week before meeting Lucas, I traveled to St. Louis for work and told my family I would never go back because I disliked it so much. Then I met a man who loved St. Louis because it was home and now it has become so special to me too. Over time, I fell in love not only with Lucas, but with the people, memories, and life connected to the city he loves. In the sweetest full-circle moment, Lucas proposed under the St. Louis Arch so that the city would forever hold a special place in my heart too. Looking back now, we can see God’s faithfulness in every unexpected detail, and we are so excited to begin this next chapter together.
