Hannah Bridgeland

and

Amish Brahmbhatt

September 12 - 13, 2025

Oregon, IL

Our story

Hannah & Amish first met in 2010 when Hannah was a sophomore at Bradley University & Amish has a freshman at Northern Illinois University. Kylie frequently went to NIU to visit Jake & Hannah went with Kylie one Halloween weekend. Hannah & Amish instantly had a connection so much so that Hannah convinced Amish to dress up as a pumpkin. She wanted to keep talking to him & didn't want him to get kicked out of the costume party for not having a costume. Hannah later found out that Amish's nickname for the rest of college was "pumpkin boy." Despite that very memorable introduction, Amish & Hannah lost touch for the remainder of college. Their paths crossed again at Jake & Kylie's wedding. They don't recall talking to each other that day, but Amish recalls exactly what Hannah was wearing & Hannah recalls intently watching Amish with his date. Unfortunately, Hannah & Amish still didn't get the message. They continued on in their separate paths for several more years until Hannah took a travel nurse assignment in Chicago. Kylie & Jake (are you beginning to see why they were officiants?) were living in Chicago at the time. Hannah & Kylie decided to have a ladies night out to a play. Hannah knew that Jake was going to hang out with one of his friends that night, but didn't know who. Amish knew Kylie was out with a friend. Despite never being told who, he claims he knew it was Hannah. After the play the groups merged at a rooftop bar right off of Michigan Avenue. Hannah remembers seeing Amish walk in & thinking "he's still cute, actually cuter." Amish continued to impress Hannah as he asked questions to his friends about what was going on in their lives, clearly showing how much he cared about his friends. Hannah was sure Amish would ask to exchange numbers that night, but he didn't. Minutes after they said goodbye Amish asked both Jake and Kylie for Hannah's number to which they said, "Ask her yourself. You're facebook friends with her!" Amish took Kylie's advice and finally the two got the hint. The first time Hannah & Amish got together without friends was at a place called The Vig one day after work. The Vig is a restaurant in Chicago that turns into a dance hall later at night. Hannah only knew the place as a restaurant. Amish only knew the place as a dance hall. Understandably, Amish wasn't sure what he was getting himself into when Hannah suggested going to The Vig on a random night during the work week, but nonetheless he showed up & was relieved to learn it was a restaurant that night. After that first night salsa lessons around the city became a common occurrence until eventually Amish asked Hannah on a proper date. Early on in the relationship Hannah also adopted a cat named Valparaiso, "Valpa." Amish got to be there the day Valpa came home, so it's as much his cat as hers. While completing her travel nurse assignment in Chicago, Hannah was applying to graduate school. Hannah had her heart set on the University of Washington Seattle & was quite excited when Amish said he was looking to move out of Chicago now that he was done with graduate school. In the end, it all worked out & the two moved to Seattle together. Amish & Hannah even ended up having jobs right next to each other & could carpool. Hannah & Amish spent 3 wonderful years in Seattle hiking, backpacking & exploring the Pacific Northwest before moving to Milwaukee. Hannah was the first one to say "I love you"... accidentally. One day at a local farmer's market in Seattle, Amish was giving detailed step by step instructions on how to make a "simple" dessert with peaches. Hannah thought it was ridiculous to call this recipe "simple," but it's very characteristic of Amish. It was in this moment that Hannah blurted out "I love you," and then instantly became red because she hadn't meant to. Amish's first "I love you" was much more planned. He invited Hannah on a local hike then said the words overlooking a pumpkin patch.
