Seven years ago, Alex asked Amie if she wanted to grab a drink over the weekend. Her response was, “well, I’m kind of busy this weekend, I’m graduating from college, but next week will work!” He chuckled. They met at the Tunnel Bar in Northampton, MA that following week. He ordered an old fashioned, she an espresso martini. At the end of the night, they went their separate ways. Amie texted Alex, “hey I had a great time, would love to hang out again sometime”. He chuckled, again. Fast forward to October 2019: Alex yells at Amie for having her phone on silent and missing the phone call that she got into PA school, starting January 6, 2020. Four months in, Alex breaks the news that he has to move to Charlotte, NC for work. It wasn’t all terrible; the only time she came downstairs during PA school was for food anyway, so they had already been practicing being apart. Shout out to their fabulous friends Chelsea & John Jones for taking Amie in like a foster puppy for her second year of school while Alex was in Charlotte! She graduated on December 17, 2021, and drove to Charlotte on December 26. Amie passed her boards in January and knew it would be a few months before her medical license came through, which meant doing a whole lot of nothing for a while. That’s when the most perfect dog, Woody, came into the picture! They drove to a farm in Kings Mountain, NC to pick up the puppy lab mix they found on PetFinder (Alex will tell you Amie didn’t want Woody because he was rather vocal, but he was the only one they truly wanted, exactly who they went there for). Alex started discussing potential work opportunities - two of the three options would result in yet another massive geographical relocation for them. Amie didn’t hold back, she blatantly said “I’m not making another huge move without a ring”. Since the beginning of their relationship, Alex always tossed Amie the keys to his Jeep to unlock the doors. Every time they left the house, without fail. They went out to dinner for Amie’s birthday on February 22, 2023 (the night before her actual birthday, just like her family always does it). When they left the restaurant, instead of tossing her the keys to the Jeep, Alex passed her a round, teal, velvet box. She chuckled. And screamed. And wouldn’t stop screaming. And he literally had to tell her to stop screaming so he could ask her to marry him. (Another huge shoutout to their rockstar friends Erika & Chris Fournier for hiding and capturing the entire thing on video!) And they did make another big move, just a few months later, to south Jersey. (Honestly, there’s no good pizza in Charlotte, so something they were looking forward to coming back up north). 🖤
