Wedding of the Century

Catherine and Mike initially caught each other's eye during a class at Santa Clara University in 2004. Determined to meet "that girl from class", Mike soon learned they had a mutual friend and asked for an introduction. (thanks Molly!) After a few failed attempts, Mike finally got his chance to meet Catherine in late November. Catherine passed by Mike as he was leaving a party to go study for a midterm. Outside, he pondered his options. In one direction was academic excellence and undoubtedly a future Presidential run. The other was a high chance of rejection from "that girl" who had evaded him for weeks. Mike took a deep breath, kissed his Presidential hopes goodbye, and did a hard pivot back into the party. For twenty minutes, Mike lurked in her peripheral vision, too shy to make the first move. Eventually, as if by divine intervention, they turned to each other. Mike still remembers how Catherine introduced herself. "Hi, I'm Catherine, I think we are supposed to meet each other." That night, Mike walked Catherine home, asked for her phone number, and was hooked. The couple enjoyed the better part of a year together before going their separate ways. Mike graduated, spent a brief time in Seattle, before settling in Arizona. Catherine moved to Chicago for a few years, before returning home to San Francisco. Eleven years and many life experiences later, the two reunited and picked up exactly where they left off. While they’ve asked themselves the "what ifs”, they are thankful for each chapter of their story. For both the times together and those apart have allowed them to recognize how fortunate they are to have each other. They feel very lucky and are excited for their future!
