The first time they interacted, was in their childhood. America, in a fit of anger, yelled at Melvin. Annoyed, he walked out of the bouncy house, never wanting to speak to her again. Fast forward a couple of years later, once in their teenage years, Melvin couldn't help but to notice America's character and kindness towards him, causing him to become smitten with her. In an attempt to get her attention, he showed up at her doorstep a Wednesday night with a gift, only to be received by her father. Intimidated, he tried to slowly back away from the door, but America popped out from behind her father and received the gift with a smile. Full of nerves, he left quickly. Unfortunately, much to Melvin's disappointment, she saw this gesture as nothing more than a friendly graduation present. A couple months passed, and Melvin confessed his feelings towards America, but she did not feel the same, and they eventually lost contact. Several years passed, and both were very focused on their future and goals, with no time for a relationship, when they bumped into each other at the gym. Immersed in his workout, Melvin would ignore her and pretend like he didn't see her, but she always made sure to walk up to him and greet him with a smile anytime she saw him. Drawn once again to her kindness, Melvin started to rekindle the feelings towards her that he thought had disappeared. Determined, he decided to go all or nothing, and confessed very directly what his intentions were. Startled, she turned him down once again. She was set on remaining single, but as the months passed, she couldn't help but to notice how much she looked forward to seeing him. His humor, smile, kind heart, and determination drew her to him. Eventually, she couldn't deny the fact that she too had feelings, and decided to take the leap with him. Now, she cant imagine a life without him, and he never has to let her go.
