We met in Raleigh in 2017 when introduced by a mutual friend. Amelia was living in Georgia at the time and visiting Raleigh - where Zack lived - for a friend group reunion weekend. We immediately hit it off! Amelia returned to Georgia, and we kept in touch over the next month. Wanting to see each other again, we planned a group trip to Asheville. It was pretty apparent that we were into each other. For the next several months, we visited each other, took more weekend trips to new places and met the parents! Later that year, Amelia moved back to Raleigh.
Just like their story began, Amelia and Zack love to spend time with friends and travel together. From snowboarding in Colorado to beach camping in the Outer Banks, we're always up for a good time and new adventure. Over the years, we've learned a lot from each other. Most importantly, we've learned what it's like to be a team and love each other unconditionally - through career changes, quarantining and building a life together. We feel like we can get through anything together and have fun doing it!
In July of 2020, Amelia took Zack on - what was supposed to be - a surprise birthday trip back to Asheville. Little did she know, Zack had bigger plans. On the morning after they arrived, Zack woke Amelia up at 3:30 AM and drove to a special spot in the mountains. We took a short hike on the Appalachian Trail to a summit spot, called Max Patch, to watch the sun rise over the mountains. Amelia was excited but didn’t think much else of it. Zack set up the camera to capture pictures of the beautiful scenery, and just as the sun began to peak through the clouds, Zack told Amelia to stand up and face the sunrise for a photo. While she was turned around, Zack got down on one knee with the ring and popped the question. Amelia said yes! And now, we can't wait to get married and celebrate with all of our wonderful friends and family in Charleston!
