Amelia started working for the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) in early fall of 2022. Her coach, Liz had a secret up her sleeve. When Amelia had first been hired Liz messaged Tyler and said that someone around his age was newly hired at the Comm Center and thought we’d be a good match for each other. Tyler slowly started making his appearance around Amelia while she was in training with Liz. Bonding over the fact that he used to work as a dispatcher at this location. Liz put Amelia in a group chat with an unknown number and being new Amelia thought it was another dispatcher. Nope, it was Tyler. Eventually the two started texting on a daily basis that then turned into phone calls. A couple weeks later Tyler asked Amelia on their first date.

Neither of us had been axe throwing before and had no idea what we were doing. After finishing we sat down at the tables they had inside. Without realizing it we were the last ones inside and had talked up until the business was closing for the night. It was so easy talking to each other and felt almost too good to be true, checking off every green flag.

On vacation in South Carolina Tyler had persistently asked Amelia what day she wanted to watch the sunrise on the beach. Amelia being a smart a** said, “Ty we’re on vacation I don’t want to get up at 5am the first day we’re here.” After asking a few more times our group agreed to go on our third day there, Tuesday August 20th. After everyone was ready we drove to Sullivans Island. Bella’s husband Garrett brought his camera so we decided to take couples pictures. Sure enough when Amelia and Tyler were taking pictures Tyler got down on one knee and asked that million dollar question, “Will you marry me?” Of course she said, “I knew you were doing it this morning, YES!” Amelia fell to her knees hugging Ty. The two immediately called their immediate family members and shared the special news.
