We met in August 2021 at Inwood Tavern, a classic Dallas “dive.” Picture a DJ spinning throwback tracks, drinks served in Red Solo cups, and a crowd that thinks this is the place to be seen. The perfect setting for a night out. Tony was on a guys’ night. Amelia was on a girls’ night. After our friends struck up a conversation in the bathroom line, we somehow ended up talking all night on the patio. Numbers were exchanged, expectations were low, and we went our separate ways. Fast forward three months. Amelia showed up to a Friendsgiving and was casually told she was being set up on a blind date with “some guy.” Seconds later, Tony texted her from across the room: “Pass the mashed potatoes.” She already had his full name saved in her phone. So much for a blind date. From here, our versions of the story differ slightly—but three years later, we still enjoy going back to Inwood Tavern. Just not solo anymore. 🍻
