Markovi Kuli rises above the city of Prilep as a dramatic medieval fortress, long associated with the legendary King Marko. Perched on granite towers and steep cliffs, it can be seen everywhere in the city. A hike to the top of the cross, takes about an hour to get to the top. Recommend doing it in the early morning while it is still cool.
The Clock Tower was built in the center of the Old Bazaar in 1858 to replace an older wooden clock tower, which burned in the fire that was suffering the Old Bazaar in 1854. It was built by the famous master from Prilep, Petre Lauco with his group. It was built on hexagonal base with massive stone blocks in the height of 20.50m and skeletal system of wooden construction. The total height of the building is 38.76 meters Right next to it you would see the ruins of Charshi Mosque. It was built in the time when the sultan Mehmed the Second Conqueror was ruling in 1475. It is a rare sample of Islamic architecture in Macedonia.
