From the hotel, you can easily drive to the cities of Boulder and Broomfield, as well as some cute, small towns like Louisville and Lafayette. The Flatiron Crossing mall is nearby with plenty of shops and restaurants.
Amelia used to live in Lafayette, so we've sampled a lot of the food in the area. She's also an expert at finding good restaurants. Here are some recommendations in the area: Birdhouse (Ramen and Tacos in Erie) Teocalli Cocina (Mexican in Lafayette) The Post Chicken and Beer (multiple locations) Mason's Dumplings (Boulder) Pica's Taqueria (Tacos in Louisville) Bittersweet Cafe (Coffee Shop in Louisville)
Boulder has a lot of great shopping, restaurants, and hikes. Pearl Street is iconic and Amelia particularly recommends the bookstore.
Late September is usually the peak for fall colors in the park. A reservation is required to enter the park during certain hours, so please plan accordingly. The reservations can sell out as fast as concert tickets. Some of our favorite spots include Dream Lake and Old Fall River Road (where we got engaged). Matthew has hiked all over this park, so reach out to him if you want more recommendations.
There are simply too many things to do in the mountains to list them all here. Boulder offers some great hiking that isn't too far away. If you're looking for a scenic drive, the Peak To Peak Scenic Byway and Guanella Pass are two popular drives for seeing fall foliage in September.
