How We Met

"High School Sweethearts"

We've known about each other since we were little kids. Amelia would often go to church with her dear friend Morgan, and hear talks about "that sweet Jordan Weiberg" who went to the same church. We'd passed each other in the hallways of Miller Junior High and Aberdeen High School without really knowing each other. One day in early September of our Sophomore year, Amelia got bold--she had had a crush on Jordan for a while, and decided it was the right time to ask Jordan to the homecoming dance. Jordan wasn't really the dancing type. He said he wasn't really interested in going. But, after thinking about it for the rest of the day, Jordan decided that maybe he should go after all. That night, Jordan texted Amelia and made plans for a first "date..." Our first "date" was at Amelia's house, where we ate hamburgers and sat on the living room floor watching "Source Code." Who would have thought, 7 years later, that us two anxious teenagers would be more in love than ever?

Our Engagement

Worth the Wait

When we first started dating, Amelia was very honest with Jordan. She said, "I don't want a long engagement," and Jordan took that to heart! We shared our 7th anniversary on September 18, 2018. Amelia had her suspicions that Jordan might propose, as we were wrapping up our time at Central Washington University and moving quickly into our careers and adult lives. Come December 15, 2018. Jordan planned a fun day of "Christmas Adventures" in Seattle for the two of us. We were going to go shopping, look at gingerbread houses, go up in the Space Needle, have dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, and all the other quintessential Seattle tourist activities. It was a long but fun day together full of memories. The day was wrapping up, and we were heading back to Amelia's parents' house. Amelia noticed that Jordan was taking a strange route back to the highway, but didn't say anything. Jordan turned to Amelia and said, "I think we should make one more stop." Amelia's heart skipped a beat. Jordan drove us to Gasworks Park. The view of the city was breathtaking. All of the buildings and tower cranes were beautifully illuminated, and there were boats floating around in the lake decorated with Christmas lights. We had the place to ourselves. It was there that Jordan asked Amelia to marry him. Much to Amelia's surprise, the day wasn't over yet! Our dear friend Becca came out from the shadows with a camera--she had captured the whole moment! We then piled back into the car for one more surprise location: an engagement party with both of our families at Amelia's grandparents' house, featuring Wacky Chocolate Cake and a musical performance from Amelia's nephew, Noah. It was a beautiful day, and one we won't ever forget.
