I was thirteen when Jacob first reached out to me on snapchat after I had an ugly break up. All he said was “I know you don’t know me, but i can tell you are a wonderful person and i want you to know if you need anything i’m here for you.” I blew it off thinking he’s just like every guy trying to take advantage of the situation. For four years he kept giving me words of support and kindness. I never tried to get to know him, afraid of what would happen if I did. Then… he starts to date my best friend my sophomore year of high school his Junior. My best-friend and I at the time were inseparable so of course when they started dating, i was always with them. There we grew a friendship. They eventually broke up but we stayed really good friends. We had theatre together my Junior year, His senior year. That’s where the relationship really started to grow. He always made me laugh, walked with me down the halls, and was still a huge emotional support system for me. Our friendship over the months grew into something more than just friendly love. I was scared, best-friend code 101 says do not date your best friends ex. But she was so excited when i told her i had feelings for him and shut down anyone who tried to make it an issue and encouraged me to go for it. I of course was way too scared to make a move so I let the friendship continue how it was, afraid to ruin what we had. Theatre rehearsal comes around, Jake and I are in the audience seats watching this particular part of rehearsal, and i’m rambling about how stressed I am blah blah blah, next thing I know, he leans over and kisses me. Did that shut me up quick. Then, the rest was history. We started dating in 2019, went through a lot of trials and tribulations but we made it. I finally gave him a chance after four years and I’m so glad I did. His kindness, love, devotion, and dedication threw all my doubts of never finding what my Mom and Dad have out the window. And here we are, almost 6 years later ready to tie the knot. We cannot wait to spend the special day with you. We cannot wait to have our happily ever after no matter how sappy that sounds!!
