“For better, for worse...in sickness and in health.” We’ve been eagerly awaiting the day when we could say these words to each other since September 20th, and in a world changed by COVID-19 these words are more poignant than ever. In light of the uncertainty surrounding New York State guidelines for social distancing this summer, our venue deciding not to hold events this summer, and recognizing the need to do our part to keep those we love and our community safe, we have decided to alter our wedding plans. We are excited to still be married on July 11, 2020 in a small ceremony and reception, but it won’t be quite the same without you all celebrating with us. While we wish you could be with us this summer, we look forward to welcoming you all to the North Country in the summer of 2021 for a Vow Renewal Ceremony at our church and reception at the Wild Center when we can celebrate our marriage and a world that has survived a pandemic! Though not our original plan, we are still thrilled about our wedding day! Much love, Amelia & Austin
It isn't a stretch to say that our story is like a Hallmark Christmas movie. Amelia was the young woman returning to her small hometown of Potsdam after living in London - the big, international city. Austin was the nice Pennsylvanian PhD student at church, and Amelia's mother kept encouraging Amelia to get to know Austin. Turns out, she was right! While we spent time together throughout the fall, it was the Christmas season that really brought us together. There were all the hallmarks (if you will) of a classic holiday romance. We volunteered at local charities and attended Christmas parties. Most importantly, we started watching ridiculous Christmas movies (The Princess Switch, anyone?) together. Shortly after New Years, we met up at the local coffeeshop and the rest is history....
September 20th, 2019 was a seemingly normal day. We went to work and ate soup. Then after dinner, everything changed, as Austin dropped down on one knee and asked Amelia to marry him. She, of course, responded yes! And now we look forward to a lifetime perfect days and nights.
