Alec and Amelia met each other in high school through their overlapping friend groups, hanging out in group settings here and there. It wasn't until the end of the school year that they really started going out on the lake, enjoying bonfires with friends, and showing up together at house parties, which is pretty serious in Gull Lake terms. Amelia liked how smart and level-headed Alec was, Alec liked how friendly and artistic Amelia was. In October 2017, Alec officially asked Amelia to be his girlfriend while going to see the movie IT. Amelia went to all of Alec's senior year extracurriculars, from soccer and hockey games, to the prom dance at the Kalmazoo Air Zoo. The two had to be separated by a 90 minute drive while in college at Western Michigan and Michigan State, but that didn't stop the regular road trips to visit one another at their respective campuses. Soon enough, Amelia was in East Lansing alongside Alec, both graduating with bachelor's degrees from MSU. During this time, they took a break away from each other to learn and grow, finding their way back a year and a half later. In March of 2024, Alec moved to the Chicago suburbs to start his engineering career, and Amelia joined a few months later after her job approved her fully remote transition. Currently, Alec and Amelia are making friends, staying active, taking care of their two cats, and exploring everything the Chicago area has to offer.
