Question

What is Camp Holiday Trails?

Answer

Camp Holiday Trails is a year-round nonprofit camp in a natural setting at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia. CHT was incorporated as a nonprofit in 1973 and since that time has provided over 10,000 children with medical needs the opportunity to experience a positive camp experience!

Question

Staying at Camp Holiday Trails

Answer

We are excited to spend as much time with our guests as possible, and hope that you'll join us and stay at the camp! Good news, the "cabins" are true buildings with heat and AC, and full bathrooms with outlets! The bad news is that they are twin sized bunk beds and you will have to bring your own linens (sheets, blanket, pillow, bath towel). If you are traveling by air, we are happy to source linens for you, just let us know! The camp will gladly accept them as donations after the weekend. We will do our best to allow everyone to have a bottom bunk, there are about 40 bottom bunks available. Each cabin can hold 8 people and we will do our very best to keep you with people you know! The cost is $75 per person for the weekend which we can collect via Venmo (@amelia-barre or @alexking16), Paypal (amelia.barrezueta@gmail.com), or Zelle (Alex's cell, email us if you need it). ** Please no glass beer/beverage bottles! Wine and liquor are acceptable in glass, but will need to be poured into non-breakable cups ** Other items to consider bringing would be flashlights, reusable water bottles, coolers (restaurant sized ice machine on site), camp chairs or picnic blankets. Please try your best to label belongings with your name so we can return them if they get left behind!

Question

What if I'm not the outdoorsy type?

Answer

3/22: Hotel block information has been added under Travel & Lodging Please be aware there is a UVA football home game on October 5th, which can greatly affect the availability and pricing of lodging in Charlottesville. We encourage you to shop around and book early!

Question

Can I still come hang out at the camp?

Answer

Of course! If you are invited to the wedding, we would love to see you at the welcome party Friday night, as well as the daytime activities on Saturday. You will be able to RSVP to specific events through this website.

Question

How do we get to the camp?

Answer

The camp address is: 400 Holiday Trails Ln, Charlottesville, VA 22903 It is approximately a half hour drive from Charlottesville Albemarle Airport (CHO), and about a 90 minute drive from Richmond International Airport (RIC). If you are driving to camp, overnight parking is permitted. Directions from the parking field to event areas will be well marked.

Question

Where do we park?

Answer

Please plan your transport so that you can celebrate responsibly. Ride shares are encouraged if you are not staying overnight at the camp. If you decide to drive, parking is permitted at the large field to the left as you approach the camp. There will be directional signs to make it easy to find. Cars are allowed to stay overnight if needed. It is a short trail walk from the parking field to the ceremony and reception sites. We will also have a van on site free to whoever would like a ride instead.

Question

What's the dress code for the weekend?

Answer

Regular ol' picnic/cookout attire is okay for the welcome party on Friday. For the wedding ceremony and reception on Saturday, we request you wear festive, dressy-casual attire. Think cocktail dresses or jumpsuits with fun prints or colors if you so choose. A suit or shirt with slacks is appropriate, but please no denim. Weather permitting, the ceremony will be held outside and the reception will be indoors. Please avoid shades of white/cream/ivory. *** A big heads-up, the camp grounds are grass, gravel, or trail walks *** ** Chunky heels or flat shoes are strongly encouraged ** The Charlottesville climate in early October can vary. The highs historically have been anywhere from mid 80s to low 60s, and the night temperatures can dip to the 40s. We suggest keeping an eye on the forecast the week or so before and to pack an outer layer just to be safe.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

Our wedding is RSVP only, so we’ll only be able to accommodate those listed on the invitation. If your invitation says “and guest”, then yes. If not, we’d prefer it was just you.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

We want this to be your weekend to relax and let loose! With some pre-discussed exceptions, our wedding will be adults only. We appreciate you making childcare arrangements so you can celebrate with us in person but more than understand if this means you will have to celebrate from afar.

Question

Well what about dogs?

Answer

Unfortunately only service dogs are allowed at Camp Holiday Trails. This is a camp rule, not one that we have decided. There are a few dog boarding sites within Charlottesville if you'd like to have your pup close by! Feel free to reach out to us for more information.

Question

Can I take pictures during the ceremony?

Answer

We want you to be as present as possible for this moment in our lives, so we ask please no phones, cameras, or tablets during the wedding ceremony at the fire circle. We have hired a very talented photographer to capture this special occasion and will be happy to share photos with you once we have received them. You can go crazy with pictures at every other event during the weekend, we just ask that our ceremony be technology free.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP no later than September 8th. If we do not hear from you by this date, we will have to assume you are not attending.

Question

What if I still have some questions?

Answer

We understand this is not a traditional wedding and reception, so we know there may be other questions or things you would like to have clarified. Feel free to shoot us a text, or contact us at AlexAmeliaWeddingNC@gmail.com (We made the mailbox before we knew where the wedding would be. The wedding is in Charlottesville - Virginia, NOT Charlotte - North Carolina) See you at Camp!!!
