A Mehndi party is one of the most important celebrations in an Indian wedding – it is a party where the bride gets mehndi or henna paint applied to her hands and feet. This celebration is usually held the day before the actual wedding since it is believed that the brighter the henna paint on the bride’s body is, the happier the marriage will be. The design on the bride’s body has lots of meaning – there are special symbols that are included for luck, happiness and love.

Turmeric, referred to as Haldi in Hindi, is a common flavor in Indian cooking and also a significant ingredient in the pre-wedding event known as the Haldi, or Pithi, ceremony. Known to possess anti-inflammatory, healing, beautification, antiseptic, and purification properties, Haldi is essentially a cleansing procedure for the bride and groom to be.
