Lily Joyal

Maid of Honor

By Grace's side since (almost) day one, Lily is the chill cucumber to Grace's firey tomato, the Ashley to her Mary Kate, and the Giant to her miniature Belle. As Lily and Grace have grown into adulthood, Lily has become one of Grace's most trusted friends. Lily is a sucker for a spin class, loves music festivals, and makes a mean fried egg sandwich. Lily actually lived in Asheville for four years while earning her degree in Studio Art at UNC-Asheville (ask her for recommendations if you need them!). Now, she calls a tiny house in Durham, N.C. home, where she works among the blooms at Bowerbird Flowers, her mother's floral design business. Lily isn't just fulfilling her MOH duties - she and Diane will be designing all the florals for Grace and Ambrose's wedding. Prepare to be dazzled!

Katie Mead

Bridesmaid

Literally by Grace's side since day one (their pregnant mothers took beach walks together), Katie has always brought vibrant energy and grounding truth to Grace's life. While their paths separated after preschool, destiny brought them back together as 6th graders in a newly built school, where they bonded over their love of Life Is Good t-shirts and cackling laughter. Never without a roasted sweet potato or container of steamed cabbage, Katie works as a labor and delivery nurse in Portland, Maine. She is also studying to become a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. In her free time, you'll find her on a yoga mat, at the cross fit studio, or walking the backwoods and beaches of Maine with her pup Rufus, aka, Roofy. Please see Katie during the wedding weekend for all your nurse needs.

Lauren Thompson

Bridesmaid

From kicking up wood chips in the preschool yard to eating pepperoni pizza with salt and vinegar chips on the trampoline, to encouraging bad shopping behavior, Lauren and Grace have been partners in crime for decades. Both donning brown hair, brown eyes, and tanned skin, they were often mistaken for each other on the playground and softball field. Grace used to admire Lauren for her taste in music (TLC, Shania Twain). Now, she is envious of her sparkling countertops and use of chemistry in home cooking. Lauren calls Halifax, Nova Scotia home, where she nests with her hubby, Dylan, and their dog, Beta. Lauren is earning her Ph.D. in Chemistry. When she's not in the lab, you'll find her prepping gourmet meals, listening to Countess Luann's chart-topping hits, or under the orange glow at OT.

Allie Foltz

After searching high and low for a job in high school, Grace finally got the call from Ali Cat Toys. Initially grateful for the minimum wage paycheck, she could've never guessed that she'd walk away with something priceless - a lifelong friendship. Allie and Grace's love blossomed among Mary Meyer animals and Creativity for Kids kits to the tunes of "If I Had a Hammer," and Allie met her husband, Jay, who was working across the hall, somewhere in the middle of it all. Since then, Grace has watched in awe as Allie has become an incredible mother to Maddox, Henry, and Ellison Grace. Allie loves long walks on the beach, making a big sale on Poshmark (heyy, new shoes), and pretending to be a Disney princess. The Foltz family calls Mint Hill, N.C. home.

Kelly Lynch

Bridesmaid

In a true testament to the power of fate, Kelly and Grace's love lives brought the two of them together. Instantly, Grace thought Kelly was the bee's knees and longed to be her friend. It didn't take long for them to grow from infrequent party-pals to best mates in UNC's journalism school. In the past few years, they fused their global curiosity with their desired "can do" outlook on life, to start studying wine. Together, they earned their WSET Level 2 certifications, using their knowledge during a jaunt through Piedmont and Tuscany. Kelly enjoys playing putt-putt in crop tops, eating sauce with a side of pasta (etc.), and earning as many splat points as possible at Orangetheory. She lives in Austin, TX with her itty bitty rescue kitty, (Stinky) Minky, and works in marketing for Dell.

Sarah Doochin

Bridesmaid

A Craigslist ad brought them together: Grace responded while in class, and after meeting Sarah over dinner, Grace knew she'd met her match. The living arrangement was sealed with a toast of White Zinfandel. Grace immediately admired Sarah's crisply-made bed, sauteed okra, and giant binder of CDs. It didn't take long for her to realize that Sarah was the Real Deal - the two grew to count on each other for cozy past times and rousing Punch Brothers performances. Sarah married the love of her life, Matt, in 2016, and Grace served as MOH. Sarah and Matt live in Baltimore, where Matt is completing a Psychiatry residency, and Sarah is a high school counselor. On weekends, Sarah is most likely training for a marathon, cooking vegetarian dishes, or combing her two feline babies, Bowen and Maize.

Katie Higgins

Bridesmaid

Katie and Grace started their first news jobs within two weeks of each other. It went like this: girl storms into newsroom with hound dog, girl gets trained by Grace (also new...), girl and Grace discover they both share a love for conquering trails, Thai takeout, and absurd conversation, and a love is born. After their next jobs took them to different states, they booked a trip to Costa Rica, where they were not killed by a man with a machete, but they did decide their careers in news were over. The two formed Emboss Communications in 2017 and haven't looked back since. Katie lives in Norwalk, CT with her fiance, Quinton, and their pups, Mila and Charlie. They will marry in St. Louis this fall. Katie enjoys bagging peaks, perusing the sale at Anthropologie and listening to crime podcasts.

Kandra Kent

Bridesmaid

Dubbed the newsroom "Snooki", it didn't take long for Grace to figure out that Kandra had a "Martha Stewart" side to her, as well. Kandra and Grace went on a long walk by the Deschutes River and the rest is history. The pair's love was rooted in baking tasty treats, watching scary movies on her giant L-shaped couch, and training for races. Kandra and Grace managed to win mugs two years in a row as partners in Bend's famed Pole Pedal Paddle race. Kandra's husband, Ryan, is one of Ambrose's groomsmen. In January 2019, Kandra and Ryan welcomed their son Owen. When she's not reporting the news on the streets of Portland, Oregon, Kandra is decorating her garden oasis, driving across town for a Craigslist steal, or walking the dirt paths of the PNW with the fam and their sweet doggy, Keisha.
