Matthew and Ambreana met at New Hope’s young adults church retreat in the fall. They hit it off the first night playing games, walking around the site, and chatting about everything from silly fears to current struggles. Before going to sleep, Matthew mentioned working out the next morning and Ambreana added that she was debating on going on a run. Matthew took a shot and asked Ambreana if she wanted to get up at 4:30am, 4 hours later, to workout together and then go to morning prayer. Ambreana took a pause and asked the Holy Spirit for an answer. With the confidence that the Lord would give her the energy she needed, she agreed, and those who know her know she is not a morning person at all, so this was all God, and went to her cabin to get some rest. Little did she know, instead of rushing to get some sleep, Matthew spent the majority of the night in prayer with the Lord asking for guidance in planning the workout. The two got up the next morning and worked out with smiling faces despite the rain and tiredness. After, they went for a run and ended up at a dock on the pond where their conversations deepened while they welcomed the sunrise. Neither of them knew what was to come out of this meeting, but they lived in the moment and enjoyed each other’s company. In the weeks to come, the two quickly gravitated to each other and before they knew it, they were planning a future together. Leaning on God’s guidance and putting Him at the center, they stood steadfast and are continuing to put their trust in Him and His plans for their future.
